Hiding something else

by Chris Ames posted at 2008-11-28 13:42 last modified 2008-11-28 13:42

Here's another astonishingly blatant non-answer - or non denial - from the Foreign Office concerning the involvement of spin doctors in drafting the dossier:

John Baron MP asked "the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs with reference to the draft of the Iraq dossier by Mr. John Williams dated 9 September 2002, whether (a) Mr. Williams and (b) any other communications official contributed further drafting material."

Foreign Office minister Bill Rammell replied:

The Iraq Dossier by Mr. John Williams was written solely by Mr. Williams.

Given that Baron had asked about "further drafting", Rammell's reply could not have been a more blatant refusal to answer the question had he said: "I refuse to answer the question".

So did the spin doctors sex-up the dossier after the Williams draft?
